On 7th May 2019 Dirk Porschewski, product manager for the area Cell (paper) of the business unit BRANOguard, visited the University of Media in Stuttgart once again. As part of the visit, he gave a lecture on corrosion protection for the study course Packaging Technology.
BRANOpac has been an integral part of the lecture for many years and has always maintained a partnership with the professorship of Packaging Technology at the Stuttgart Media University. Prof. Conze had organized the guest lecture for years, meanwhile the leadership lies with Prof. Herrenbauer, who continues the tradition.
The basis of the lecture is the protection of metal against corrosion by packaging materials. This protection is of enormous importance in view of the annual damage caused by corrosion. The classic agenda includes topics such as anti-corrosion causes and methods, effects, advantages and disadvantages of VCI applications as well as misapplications of packaging. Through examples, the theoretical part is practically illustrated together with the students.
Students of the study course Packaging Technology deal with topics of technical know-how, creativity in the development and design of packaging, profitability in terms of efficiency and social responsibility with regard to society and the responsibility of packaging. A packaging which provides a protective function for special materials due to the special coating in addition to the actual packaging role is thus of particular interest to the students. As BRANOpac, we are pleased to be able to pass on years of expertise in corrosion protection packaging to young people and look forward to the future cooperation with the University.
